Sean Dong

Sean Dong is a Senior Lawyer and Director at ProActive Legal. He began his career in Australian immigration law in 2010 when he became a Registered Migration Agent (former MARN: 1066448). Sean has since developed comprehensive knowledge of the Australian migration system and always had a keen interest in its jurisprudence. His interest led him to complete a number of further studies in law, ultimately being admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria as a solicitor and barrister.

Sean is also a dedicated leader with strong entrepreneurial interests, having initially graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Commerce. He also led the debating team during his student years. His strong business acumen allows him, as a Director of the firm, to provide strategic leadership as well as advance the firm’s growth through his invaluable contribution to marketing strategies and identifying future opportunities.

While being extremely experienced with all types of visa applications, Sean has an exceptional aptitude for resolving complex immigration matters, such as visa refusals, Notification of Intention to Consider Cancellation (NOICC) and visa cancellations, health and character issues, and Public Interest Criteria (PIC) waivers. Sean has extensive experience in both the Migration & Refugee Division and the General Division at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT).

Sean is well renowned within Melbourne’s migrant community due to his frequent sharing of insights and providing commentary on immigration policies and updates to leading media outlets such as ABC, Channel 9, The Age, and the Herald Sun. His passion extends beyond his professional work at the firm. He is also the President of Elite Talks Inc., a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to assisting young migrants with their career developments. His leadership has significantly influenced the community, driving various initiatives that aid these young migrants. Sean is also committed to assisting underprivileged migrants in their pursuit of justice through pro bono services. His commitment to community service is a testament to his dedication to social justice and a fairer society.
